Xiaomi Expands to Create a Comprehensive Connected Tech Ecosystem

Xiaomi is swiftly evolving from a smartphone manufacturer into a comprehensive technology powerhouse, with wide-ranging ambitions that span homes, transportation, and digital services. Central to its growth is the “Human x Car x Home” strategy, which focuses on creating a connected ecosystem that permeates various aspects of everyday life.

The company recently made its debut in the network-attached storage (NAS) market by launching the Xiaomi Smart Storage device. Available in 4TB, 8TB, and 16TB models, this product features multi-device backups, remote file access, 4K media streaming, and AI-powered photo management. The launch was met with great enthusiasm, as evidenced by the more than 30,000 orders received within the first hour of crowdfunding.

Expanding well beyond its beginnings in smartphones and televisions, Xiaomi now boasts a diverse product range that includes tablets, smartwatches, wireless earbuds, air purifiers, routers, home appliances, smart lighting products, gaming monitors, electric scooters, coffee machines, portable printers, and electric vehicles. At the heart of this vast ecosystem is HyperOS, Xiaomi’s software platform that seamlessly connects devices across homes and vehicles, thus ensuring a cohesive and user-friendly experience while maintaining affordability.

This strategic diversification has contributed to strong financial performance. In the first quarter of 2026, Xiaomi reported revenue of 99.1 billion yuan and a net income of 4.72 billion yuan. For the entirety of 2025, the company achieved a record adjusted net profit of 39.2 billion yuan, underscoring the success of its expansive strategy.

Xiaomi’s foray into the electric vehicle market has also been noteworthy, with the company delivering 600,000 vehicles since its entry into the sector. It projects that total deliveries will reach 550,000 units by the end of 2026. By integrating consumer electronics, smart-home devices, digital infrastructure, and electric vehicles, Xiaomi is cementing its position as a leading force among global technology companies.
