Law enforcement agencies from Vietnam’s Tây Ninh Province and Cambodia’s Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Tboung Khmum provinces have agreed to bolster their collaborative efforts to enhance security along their shared border. This decision emerged from a conference held in Tây Ninh on Friday, where officials assessed current cooperation and devised strategies to combat cross-border crime more effectively.
The meeting underscored the importance of sharing information and coordinating actions to tackle various criminal activities, such as drug and human trafficking, smuggling, money laundering, and online fraud. The focus was on enhancing direct communication channels and scheduling regular meetings to ensure the swift exchange of intelligence and handling of cross-border cases.
Officials also committed to intensifying patrols and monitoring border trails and crossings. This measure aims to curb illegal movements that could aid organized transnational crime syndicates. The police forces are set to improve cooperation on issues like terrorism, arms trafficking, and high-tech crimes, and will also address emerging non-traditional security threats.
The conference concluded with the signing of a memorandum of cooperation, which aims to fortify efforts in crime prevention and maintaining public order in the border regions. This agreement marks a significant step in the ongoing partnership between the Vietnamese and Cambodian provincial police forces.
